# Track calories in Claude with Splot

Tell Claude what you ate. Splot saves every meal with its calories and macros, so Claude can keep your totals, plan around your targets and look back over weeks.

Claude is great at estimating a meal. It just doesn’t keep the record. Splot does.

## How it works

### Log what you ate

You tell Claude what you ate. Splot keeps it in your journal.

> **You:** Latte and overnight oats for breakfast.
>
> **Claude** (Splot: saved breakfast): Saved both: 526 kcal and 33 g protein so far today.
>
> **You:** Had a chicken burrito bowl for lunch.
>
> **Claude** (Splot: saved lunch): Saved it as an estimate: about 680 kcal and 51 g protein. You’re at 1,206 of 2,060 kcal today.

In Splot: The Today screen in the Splot app. The Chicken Burrito Bowl that Claude saved appears as lunch, and today’s calories go up to 1,206 of 2,060.

### Later that day: Plan around what’s left

Ask for a dinner that fits the rest of your day. Claude works from the totals in your journal, and the plan waits there until you’ve eaten it.

> **You:** Had a chicken burrito bowl for lunch.
>
> **Claude** (Splot: saved lunch): Saved it as an estimate: about 680 kcal and 51 g protein. You’re at 1,206 of 2,060 kcal today.
>
> **You:** What should I have for dinner to hit my protein?
>
> **Claude** (Splot: planned dinner): You have 854 kcal and 38 g protein left. A chicken Caesar salad fits: about 520 kcal and 42 g protein. I’ve planned it for 19:00, and it counts once you’ve had it.

In Splot: The Today screen in the Splot app, with the chicken Caesar salad that Claude planned for 19:00 marked as planned.

### A few weeks in: Ask about your own weeks

Every meal stays in your journal, so Claude can compare your weekdays with your weekends, or find what your hardest days have in common.

> **You:** Compare my weekdays with my weekends.
>
> **Claude** (Splot: read 28 days of meals): Calories barely change: about 1,880 a day on weekdays and 1,720 at weekends. Protein is the difference. You average 118 g on weekdays but 74 g at weekends, when a late brunch replaces your usual breakfast. Last Saturday’s pancakes had 21 g.

In Splot: Saturday in the Splot app: pancake brunch, a latte, cookies and beef chili, with 76 g of protein against a 122 g target.

## Claude on its own, and with Splot

| Claude on its own | With Splot |
| --- | --- |
| A new chat doesn’t know what you ate yesterday. | Every meal is saved, so any chat picks up where the last one stopped. |
| Ask again, and the calories come out different. | Each meal keeps the numbers it was saved with, so your totals stay put. |
| There’s no week or month to look back on. | Weeks of your own meals to ask about, against your own targets. |

## Questions

### Doesn’t Claude’s memory already remember what I eat?

Memory helps Claude keep context about you, not an exact record. Splot saves every meal with its foods, portions and nutrition, so Claude can add up any day or compare weeks, and you can check and correct the journal yourself.

### Who estimates the calories?

Claude does. Splot has no AI of its own: it saves what Claude estimated, marked as an estimate, and you can change the meal afterwards.

### Which Claude plans can connect Splot?

Free, Pro and Max. Free allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, a workspace owner adds Splot first.

### What can Claude see?

Claude reads your journal only through Splot, when a conversation needs it. What it receives is kept under Anthropic’s terms and your Claude settings. You can disconnect it at any time, in Splot or in Claude. [Privacy and control](https://splot.health/docs/mcp/privacy.md)

### Does it work in the Claude app on my phone?

Yes. Connect Splot once, in the Claude app or on claude.ai, and it works in both.

### Do I need the Splot app?

No. You can create your account while connecting Claude, then log, plan and review meals entirely in a chat. The Splot app for iPhone and Android, coming soon, will show your journal at a glance and let you log without a chat.

### Can ChatGPT use the same journal?

Yes. Connect ChatGPT as well, and both assistants read and write the same journal.
