# Delete a food

> Removes a food from your foods. Past meals and recipes keep it.

`DELETE /foods/:id`

Needs the **Read and write** permission. Only foods in your `mine` library can be deleted. Meals and recipes that use the food keep the version they were saved with, so nothing you logged changes.

## Path parameters

## Response

`204` with no body, or `404` with `food_not_found` when it doesn't exist or isn't yours.
