# Splot > Splot is a calorie tracker and food journal ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants can reason with. You log and plan meals in the iPhone and Android app or by telling your assistant, then ask it about your eating habits over weeks, against your calorie and macro targets. Assistants read and write the journal through MCP (Model Context Protocol) or the Splot API. Splot keeps the record and your assistant does the thinking. Splot has no AI of its own: it does not analyse photos, estimate nutrition or give advice. The assistant you connect does that and saves the result to your journal. ## Get Splot - [Download for iOS](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6809764668) ## What Splot does - Logs meals: search a food, scan a barcode, or pick one of your own foods and recipes. - Plans meals ahead. Planned meals sit in the journal next to eaten ones, and daily totals count only what was eaten. - Shows each day against daily targets for calories, protein, carbs and fat. Targets can be set by hand or worked out from age, height, weight and activity. - Keeps photos with meals. - Works in metric, US and UK units. ## Using Splot with an AI assistant - ChatGPT: install the Splot plugin from ChatGPT's plugin directory: https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6abeb542e4c48191992d566190f16299 - MCP server: `https://app.splot.health/mcp`. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or any assistant that supports MCP, sign in with your Splot account, and approve the access it asks for. - Splot API: for anything else, with a personal key created in the app. OpenAPI spec: `https://splot.health/openapi.json`. - A connected assistant can search foods, read the journal, log meals you ate, plan meals for later, change or delete meals, save your own foods, and read and set your daily targets. - Typical requests: "Had the salmon bowl for lunch", "Plan a dinner that fits my targets", "How did my last two weeks go?", "What should I change in my diet?" - Logging from a photo: send your assistant a photo of your plate. The assistant estimates the meal and logs it to Splot. ## Good to know - Food data: common foods come from USDA FoodData Central and Ciqual, the French national food composition table. Barcode lookups use Open Food Facts. - Privacy: your journal is never sold or used for ads. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time. - Price: free to download. - Availability: United States, the EU and EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. - Splot is for adults 18 and older. It is a journal, not medical advice. ## Docs Each page is also available as Markdown. With Splot connected, it reads the meals and targets in your journal and answers from your own numbers, such as which days you hit your targets, where protein falls short and what changes at weekends, then helps you decide what to change. - [Set targets for your goal with ChatGPT or Claude](https://splot.health/guides/set-targets-for-your-goal.md): Tell ChatGPT or Claude your goal and the details it needs, such as your age, height, weight and how active you are. It suggests daily calories, protein, carbs and fat and explains the reasoning. When you agree, it saves them to Splot from today, and after a few weeks it can help you adjust them from how your days actually went. - [Plan a week of meals around your targets](https://splot.health/guides/plan-a-week-of-meals.md): Tell your assistant what your week looks like and what you like to eat, then ask it to plan meals that fit your targets. With Splot connected, the plan is saved to your journal as planned meals. They count towards your totals only once you've eaten them, and your assistant can rework the rest of the week when plans change. - [Adapt a recipe to fit your macros](https://splot.health/guides/adapt-a-recipe-to-your-macros.md): Save the recipe to Splot by telling your assistant its ingredients and how many servings it makes; Splot adds up the nutrition from the ingredients. Then ask ChatGPT or Claude to adapt it, for example with more protein or fewer calories, and save the new version alongside the original, so logging a serving later takes one sentence. - [Hit your protein target with ChatGPT or Claude](https://splot.health/guides/hit-your-protein-target.md): Ask your assistant where your protein falls short. With Splot connected, it reads your meals against your protein target, points to the meals and days that come up short, and suggests swaps you'd actually eat that still fit your calories. It can plan the fix straight into your journal. - [How to track calories with ChatGPT](https://splot.health/guides/how-to-track-calories-with-chatgpt.md): Install the Splot plugin in ChatGPT, then tell ChatGPT what you ate. ChatGPT estimates the calories and macros, and Splot saves the meal to your food journal, so your daily totals add up and stay the same in every chat. - [How to track calories with Claude](https://splot.health/guides/how-to-track-calories-with-claude.md): Add Splot to Claude as a custom connector, then tell Claude what you ate. Claude estimates the calories and macros, and Splot saves the meal in your food journal, so every chat works from the same totals and the same history. - [Can ChatGPT or Claude remember what you eat?](https://splot.health/guides/can-chatgpt-or-claude-remember-what-you-eat.md): Only partly. ChatGPT's and Claude's memory is built to keep general things about you, such as a goal or a preference, not an exact record of every meal. For totals that add up and history you can look back on, connect a food journal such as Splot, which saves each meal with its foods, portions and nutrition. - [Log a meal from a photo with ChatGPT or Claude](https://splot.health/guides/log-a-meal-from-a-photo.md): With Splot connected, send ChatGPT or Claude a photo of your plate and ask it to log the meal. The assistant estimates the foods, portions and nutrition, and Splot saves the meal with your photo, marked as an estimate you can correct. ## Pages - [Splot](https://splot.health/): what Splot is and how it works with an assistant - [Splot for ChatGPT](https://splot.health/chatgpt.md): plan meals, review your weeks and track calories with ChatGPT, with the setup and common questions - [Splot for Claude](https://splot.health/claude.md): plan meals, review your weeks and track calories with Claude, with the setup and common questions - [Guides](https://splot.health/guides.md): every guide to planning, tracking and reviewing your eating with an assistant, each with its short answer - [Support](https://splot.health/support): help with your account, journal and assistant connections - [Privacy Policy](https://splot.health/privacy): what Splot collects, why, and your choices - [Security and privacy](https://splot.health/security): how Splot protects your journal, what a connected assistant can reach, and how to report a vulnerability - [Terms of Use](https://splot.health/terms): the agreement for using Splot - [Deleting your account](https://splot.health/delete-account): how to delete records or your whole account ## Po polsku Splot is also described in Polish, for people in Poland. Później dodanie porcji do dziennika zajmie jedno zdanie. Claude oszacuje kalorie i makro, a Splot zapisze posiłek w Twoim dzienniku, więc każda rozmowa korzysta z tych samych sum i tej samej historii. ## Optional - [Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy](https://splot.health/consumer-health-data): for residents of Washington, Nevada and similar US states - [Cookies Policy](https://splot.health/cookies): cookies on the public website
