This Cookies Policy explains how Splot uses cookies and similar technologies on our public website at splot.health.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, session state, and usage patterns.
Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and device identifiers.
2. How we use cookies
Our public website sets at most two cookies, and neither until you make a choice.
Your theme. When you choose a light or dark theme in the footer, the splot-theme cookie remembers that choice for one year, on splot.health and on our sign-in and account pages at app.splot.health. It holds only the word light or dark, and we don’t record it. Choosing System deletes it.
Analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people find and use the website, such as which pages they visit and where they came from. When you first visit, we ask whether we may use analytics cookies:
- If you accept, PostHog sets a
ph_…_posthogcookie on splot.health holding random identifiers for your browser and your visit, and keeps related details, such as the site that sent you, in your browser’s storage. This lets us recognise your later visits. The cookie lasts one year from your last visit. - If you decline, or until you choose, PostHog stores nothing on your device. Your visits are still counted, using a code PostHog works out on its servers from your IP address, your browser and a random value it replaces and deletes every day. It can’t be reversed, PostHog doesn’t keep your IP address with your visit, and the code changes daily, so PostHog can’t link your visits across days.
Your choice itself is kept in your browser’s local storage, so we don’t ask again on every page. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this website.
The website’s interactive character responds to your pointer within your browser. This interaction is not stored or sent to us.
This policy covers the public website. It does not describe account or session storage in the Splot app or connected services.
3. Types of cookies
Essential cookies support security, authentication, consent preferences, and basic functionality.
Analytics cookies help website operators understand how a website or product is used so they can improve it.
Preference cookies remember choices you make, such as settings or interface preferences.
Our public website sets the splot-theme preference cookie and, only with your consent, PostHog’s analytics cookie, both described above. It does not set advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy to describe the cookies in use.
4. Managing cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how websites or services work.
Our public website asks before setting analytics cookies, and you can change your answer with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Declining doesn’t change how the website works. The splot-theme cookie is set only when you choose a theme.
5. Third-party cookies
PostHog provides our website analytics and processes this information on our behalf, in the European Union. Its cookie is set by splot.health and its requests go through splot.health, so your browser treats it as a first-party cookie. We don’t embed advertising or video services. Fonts and the character artwork are served with the website.
If we introduce other services that use cookies, we will update this policy to explain their use.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
