Claude can estimate a meal from a few words or a photo of your plate. A food journal adds what a conversation can’t: a record that’s still there tomorrow, adds up across the day, and builds into weeks you can ask about.
What changes with a journal
| Claude on its own | Claude with Splot |
|---|---|
| A new chat doesn’t know what you ate yesterday. | Every meal is saved, so any chat picks up where the last one stopped. |
| Asking again can give a different estimate. | Each meal keeps the numbers it was saved with. |
| No week or month to look back on. | Weeks of your own meals, against your own targets. |
Add Splot to Claude
Splot works on Claude Free, Pro and Max, in the Claude app and on claude.ai. Free allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, a workspace owner adds Splot first.
- In a chat, choose + → Connectors → Add connector → Add custom connector.
- Name it Splot, enter
https://app.splot.health/mcp, choose Continue, then Add. - Sign in with Apple or Google and choose Allow access.
Splot is then on under + → Connectors. The step-by-step guide covers the details.
Log meals in your own words
- “Latte and overnight oats for breakfast.”
- “I had the pasta I planned for dinner.”
- “Log a handful of almonds at 4.”
Claude finds the foods, estimates portions you don’t give, and saves the meal, marked as its estimate. Tell it when something’s off, such as “it was a large latte”, and it updates the meal.
Ask about your day and your weeks
With daily targets set, ask “What’s left for today?” and Claude answers from your journal. Ask it to plan a dinner that fits, and the plan waits in your journal until you’ve eaten it.
Over time the questions get more useful: “How did my last two weeks go?” or “What do my hardest days have in common?”
