How it works
Your assistant does the thinking and Splot keeps the record. What a connected assistant can see and do in your journal.
Splot connects to your assistant through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard assistants use to work with other apps. Once connected, you talk to your assistant as usual, and it reads and writes your Splot journal for you. Every change appears in the app straight away.
Who does what
Section titled “Who does what”Your assistant does the thinking. It understands what you ate, estimates a meal from a photo, plans meals around your targets and reviews how your days went.
Splot keeps the record: your meals, foods, photos and daily targets, with the nutrition of each meal worked out from its foods and portions. Splot has no AI of its own, so an estimate is always your assistant’s, saved as one.
What your assistant can see and change
Section titled “What your assistant can see and change”When you connect, you approve access to:
- See your meals, foods, photos, nutrition targets and unit system.
- Log, plan, change and delete your meals and foods.
- Change your nutrition targets.
It can also read your Splot account’s name and email, when you ask which account is connected. Assistants usually ask before they change your journal, and they say a change is saved only once Splot confirms it. Tools lists every action.
Your diet, allergies, likes and dislikes are not saved in Splot. Tell your assistant in the conversation, and it takes them into account there.
Where it works
Section titled “Where it works”Connect once, in your assistant’s phone app or on its website, and Splot works in both. You sign in with the Apple or Google account you use in the Splot app; no API key is needed. In the Splot app, Account → Connect an assistant walks you through it and copies the address for you.
